"Seven Striders braved the post Christmas run on Boxing Day around the famous Cheltenham racecourse, all in aid of Winston's Wish and of course the cherished mince pie!".

"Four Striders took part in the Wyvern christmas cracker 10K on the beach at weston-super-mare! Nathan finished in 36.16 (15th), next home for the club was Mark Smith (161st 44.33) followed by Nick Hambling (251st 46.50) then Paul Smith (253rd 46.51) who has been suffering with injury during the week but decided to give it ago anyway".

23 CLC Striders battled hard in the 3rd race of the Gloucestershire Cross Country League. Despite problems with his PC, Brendan managed to send the following message; "You all mean so much to me and I feel very proud of you all for taking the time out from your Christmas shopping to run for this special club", Brendan Ward (Club Chairman)

Justine Hale completed the Cardiff half marathon on Sunday 18th October in a superb, p.b smashing 1hr 47.48, finishing 57th in her age catogory out of 540 in a field of 8811. Justine was overjoyed with her time.

"Nathan completed his 3rd race in 8 days in fine style this morning at the Oldbury 10 mile road race and came 11th in a time of 59mins and 18secs. Nathan was delighted that he came through under the hour mark especially as he has been focusing on the shorter distance races lately"

"Nathan and Rich Dare had a great race in the Bridge Inn 5k at Bristol. Rich Dare finished a strong 12th in a quality field of runners in a time of 16mins 57secs. Nathan finished 11th  in a time of 16mins and 55secs. Considering how tough the course was and especially as it was pitch black apart from the street lights above, they both really enjoyed the race.See full race report by clicking below

"CLC Striders competed for the first time in the Midlands 6 Stage men's, and 4 stage Women's Road Relays held at Sutton Park Birmingham. Find out how they got on by clicking on Report and Results" Brendan Ward, Club Chairman

"Wayne Usher who is in Full Training at the moment in a bid to run a sub 2.45 marathon next month, showed that his training is paying off as he finished in 9th place in an excellent time of 77.58 in the Chippenham Half Marathon. "Liza took part in the Yorkshireman off-road half marathon. It’s a hilly 15 mile fell race (apparently a 15 mile half is ‘good Yorkshire value for money’!), based in Haworth and going up over the moors.
Conditions were perfect for racing and the course was spectacular. She finished in a time of 1.57.46, second woman home."

"Three CLC Striders ran this challenging Hilly course. The course started in the grounds of Sudeley Castle and provided some spectacular views. Laura Kent put in a fine performance showing her strength to win the woman's race in 41.23 and was 10th overall. Matt Eggelton completed the course in 44:26 and Heather Eggelton finished in 54:56. "Super Will Ferguson ran a superb race leading from start to finish to take the county men's title setting a club record of 33.06 seconds.
Rachel Vines (DJ) who competed in the same race stayed strong throughout and took the Women's gold medal winning her first Gloucestershire title and also set a new Women's club track record of 43.39.2 seconds.
To cap a great evening Wayne usher took the Bronze medal running an excellent race to record a personal best time of 35.53.4 seconds.
Rich Dare ran well in the open mile finishing in 2nd place setting a new men's club record of 4.52.6 seconds" Brendan Ward, Club Chairman

"CLC Striders had 25 Athletes competing in the final White Horse 5k series race on August 20th at Sandhurst Village. This was the Striders 1 year Anniversary race to the day that the club first competed as a team and was also a county championship race. As a club CLC Striders has gone from strength to strength over the past 12 months, and has become a very popular club who really cares for it's members offering lots of encouragement to all who join this very passionate running club" Brendan Ward, Club Chairman

"Twenty CLC Striders ran the Hilly Bugatti 10km beer race on Wed eve. Super Will Ferguson managed to miss the start of the race, although he did make up for time and came home in 4th. Dare and Wayne were close on his heels and gps was the first Vet Strider home.

Nina led the women home, very closely followed by the ever improving DJ Vines. Louise Inchley was next followed by Sylvia and Louise Newman who both broke the 55min barrier. Fantastic results, well done everyone" Brendan Ward, Club Chairman

Dave Gilbert, Ash Bishop and Phil Jowett ran the 800m practice race arranged by Terry Haines of Severn AC. Dave Gilbert stormed to victory in a super fast 2:04. Ash was 2nd in 2:11.1 and Phil held on to third place finishing in  2:11.9. Severn AC are planning another 800m practice race in September, all CLC Striders are invited.

"Seven CLC striders took part in the Gloucester Festival 7M on a breezy but sunny Thursday evening. Liza, Alexa and Louise secured the team prize for the women. With individual prizes for Nathan, Wayne and Liza and the women’s team prize it was a bit of a Striders biscuit fest! Nath, Liza, Rob , Billy and Louise all set new club records and everyone who raced ran a PB for the distance. Fantastic results, well done everyone" Liza Barry

" Justine Hale ran the Tenby 10k in torrential rain on a very hilly course in an excellent 54mins 35 (approx), especially as Justine hadn't run for 6 weeks.

Chris Hale aka GPS, finished in sub 40 mins - 39mins 43secs (unofficial), 27th (over 200 runners). GPS  was very happy to break 40min on this very difficult course".

"Eight CLC Striders took part in the final Cheltenham Harriers Mid-summer Open at the Prince of Wales Stadium. They did the club proud. Gibsey demonstrated great determination and skill and won the mile race. A fantastic effort by all, especially in the windy and wet conditions. Well done guys!!" Brendan Ward, Club Chairman

"CLC Striders competed in the Birmingham Games held at the Alexander stadium Birmingham. This is an open athletics meeting which also incorporates the midlands 3000 metre championships men and women!!This was a great experience for us all, and saw every CLC Strider set a personal best time for there respective distances" Brendan Ward, Club Chairman

"Laura Kent took fourth lady in the 10 mile 34th Snowdon International Fell Race. Considered to be one of the most gruelling races of the Fell Runners Association (FRA) calendar, Laura was third lady at the summit (1085m) running from Llanberis in a time of 53 minutes and 46 seconds, losing one female place in the descent to a member of the England team, to finish back at Llanberis in a total time of 1 hour 26 minutes and 13 seconds and setting a new personal best for the race. Laura took first open women, and won the Kate Aucherlonie memorial prize for being the first open class senior female to pass the line" Leslie Kent

"We had 15 athletes at the 3rd white horse 5k on 16th July on a very wet Thursday evening, and although the club was missing some of it's big names those that were there didn't disappoint. All showed great determination and delivered great results. Keep it up!!" Brendan Ward, Club Chairman.

"There were 5 personal best times and one club record achieved at the Prince of Wales stadium open meeting on Wednesday 15th July. This was great to see especially in the windy conditions. Well done guys!!" Brendan Ward, Club Chairman

"Chris hale aka GPS, ran a superb race in the Framption 10k to record a big pb and set a new club V40 record to boot, in the same race Lee the Strong man Burge also smashed his pb time by several minutes, Paul smith also ran well having a solid run to record a very respectable time" Brendan Ward, Club Chairman

"Darren Milne ran the Upton on Severn Olympic distant Triathlon on Saturday 11th July".

"The CLC Striders produced some excellent results at the second mid summer open held at the Prince of Wales stadium. Six athletes took part in the 1500 metres (5 set new PB's), 3 Athletes took part in the 600 metres (setting 2 new club records) and one Athlete competed in both the 100 metres and 200 metres (and set a new 200m club record)." "The CLC Striders had 18 Athletes taking part in the Annual Aero 5 mile road race held at Bishops Cleeve on Thursday 2nd July 2009 which was promoted by Cheltenham Harriers. The club ended up packing eight runners in the top twenty of the race which was a great overall Team effort!!" Brendan Ward, Club Chairman

"Darren completed the Windsor Triathlon today, Olympic distance (1500m swim, 40km bike and 10km run).  He finished 59th out of 1618 in 2hr 17min 28 secs.  Following careful hydration on the bike section Darren finished with a strong 10km in 38min 46secs (wow!) to finish well up the field. "Ten runners took part in the club 5k Track championships held on a very wet evening on the college grass track at CLC Sports Centre. Well done to you all for running in the wet, it was a lot of fun!!" Brendan Ward, Club Chairman

"Justine Hale had an excellent run on a windy, off road 10k course , setting a new PB and new V35 club record of 49.30. Well done to Justine on a great performance! Brendan Ward, Club Chairman.

"Jo Byrant competed in this fell run in the Lake District, finishing in 2hrs 2mins. The race was shortnened from the planned 15mi to about 12mi in light of awful weather and threatned snow. Despite the organisers cutting out the Garburn Pass, it was still a really challenging race. Jo describe the event as having brilliant organisation, cracking atmosphere, and with the added bonus of a hot meal at the end!"

"Nathan Jones, David Billingham and Glyn Bagnall ran the Cleeve Cloud Cuckoo multi-terrain race last night. This was organised by Cheltenham Harriers and was a very tough course over 5.5miles with lots of steep hills. They were all very pleased with their performances, especially considering it's off-road. Nathan came in 10th in 36:57, David (9th placed MV40) was 23rd overall in 38:58 and Glyn came in 26th (2nd placed MV50) in 39:30"

"We held the club championships 400 metres and 3000 metres tonight. Super Will dominated the evening winning both the 400 metres and the 3000 metres, Sarah greef was the woman's 400 metre winner, and Liza barry was the woman's 3000 metre winner. "Will Miles and Sarah Greef both ran in the White Horse 5 mile today. They produced some great results. Will Miles completed it in 30.00 to set a new V45 club record and Sarah Greef finished in 36.12

"The Brewer games held at the Prince of Wales stadium produced some great results . Super Will Ferguson won the 800 metres, followed by Jowster in fourth. 15 year old Ben Hodges ran an excellent 200m race to record a new club under 17 record"Brendan Ward, Club Chairman

"Club Treasurer, Darren Milne, had a great run in the Brockworth Tri, his time was 60min 20 sec for 400m swim, 20km cycle and 6km run.  Overall 6th out of 207 finishers. He  did the run in 20min 54secs recording 4th faster run time!, excellent result!" Brendan Ward, Club Chairman

"There were 8 CLC Striders competing in the Whitehorse 5km road race, held in the village of Sandhurst. The CLC Striders did the club proud by achieving personal bests and club records, demonstrating their continuing improvement as the club enters its second year. "We held the club championships 200 metres and 800 metres tonight and it all turned out to be a bit of fun!!
